How to Install the Windows App (for Accessing Your Virtual Desktop)
Microsoft now offers an improved Windows App that replaces the old Remote Desktop application. Use the instructions below to install it on your device and connect securely to your Virtual Desktop.
Windows 10 & Windows 11
1. Install the Windows App
- Open the Microsoft Store.
- Search for Windows App (publisher: Microsoft).
- Click Get or Install.
2. Open and Sign In
- Launch the Windows App from the Start Menu.
- Sign in using the credentials provided by your IT team.
- Click Connect on your Virtual Desktop.
Mac (macOS)
1. Install the Windows App
- Open the Mac App Store.
- Search for Windows App.
- Click Get → Install.
2. Open and Sign In
- Open Windows App from Applications or Launchpad.
- Sign in with your credentials.
- Select your Virtual Desktop → Connect.
iPad (iPadOS)
1. Install the Windows App
- Open the App Store.
- Search for Windows App.
- Tap Get.
2. Open and Sign In
- Tap the Windows App icon.
- Sign in with your provided credentials.
- Tap your Virtual Desktop → Connect.
Android Tablets
1. Install the Windows App
- Open the Google Play Store.
- Search for Windows App (publisher: Microsoft Corporation).
- Tap Install.
2. Open and Sign In
- Open the app from your Apps list.
- Sign in using your provided credentials.
- Tap your Virtual Desktop → Connect.
ChromeBook (ChromeOS)
1. Install the Windows App
- Open the Google Play Store on your ChromeBook.
- Search for Windows App (publisher: Microsoft Corporation).
- Click Install.
2. Open and Sign In
- Open the Windows App from your Launcher.
- Sign in using the credentials provided by your IT team.
- Click your Virtual Desktop → Connect.
ChromeBook must support Android apps (most models produced after 2019 do).
